EXTERIOR SHUTTERS

Shutters and More, Inc. is unique because we build only shutters. We began manufacturing shutters in 1966 with the promise of providing the most exceptional product, in the shortest amount of time, with the highest level of service. If you would like to see how we construct them, we invite you to tour our factory and showroom. No matter what your home's style or character, we are dedicated to providing a product that will enhance the natural beauty of your home by adding the “finishing touch”. Every shutter is handmade and custom built to order, to your specifications.

Why Shutters and More?

Materials: All our exterior shutters are made exclusively from solid kiln-dried Western Red Cedar. This fine grained wood has natural tannins to help preserve its character. Other woods used for making shutters such as pine or poplar do not enjoy such an advantage. Kiln drying is time consuming and expensive, but it is important because it reduces the moisture content therefore allowing less expansion and contraction, enhances durability and acceptance of finishes. When you see boards glued together, it is because we set a maximum width for our solid components to avoid warping and cupping which occurs with wider boards.
Construction: Our shutters never see a nail, screw or staple. These are shortcut techniques used in the production of lower quality, inexpensive shutters. All joints are attached with fluted dowels glued every inch of stile to rail connection. All rounded-edge louvers are double dowelled with no festo inserted louvers.
Style: Your taste and how you feel about your home's look guides you in your choice of shutter style. Between our paneled style, fixed louver style, board and batten or Bahama style, or if you are matching an existing style of a replacement shutter, we will make your vision come true.
Service: We want to make your exterior shutter purchase a positive experience, because our fine shutters are likely to be a once in a lifetime event. Remember, we've been around since 1966 so we've probably heard your situation many times before and most likely have a solution. Please call us with any questions or visit our online portfolio at shuttersandmore.com.
Delivery: Orders generally ship within 3 weeks after order placement.
Warranty: All exterior shutters are warranted for a period of 1 year from date of receipt against defect in material and workmanship. Shutters and More, Inc. will not be responsible for paint or finish failure under any circumstances. The following are not considered defects in material or workmanship: small hairline surface or edge “checks” which are common in exterior millwork and cannot generally be avoided, slight witness lines around the raised panels due to expansion and contraction, problems caused by alterations made to the shutter after delivery or modifications to the product.

Configuration: We have developed eight standard configurations which fit a broad variety of homes, however if you can't find the style you have in mind, we will custom make your style.

When you receive your shutters they will be finish sanded and ready for primer and paint. Proper surface preparation and priming ensures a beautiful and long lasting painted finish for your shutters. The primer coat should provide 100% coverage (all 6 sides) in preparation for the topcoat. The primer will slightly raise the wood's grain requiring a light sanding before applying the topcoat which should be premium grade exterior latex or oil based paint.

Shutters should be screwed or lagged to the exterior surface of the house with rust proof screws. Pre-drill and countersink all screw holes and attach a rubber washer or spacer between the back of the shutter and the building so that it allows the water and ventilation to pass between the shutter and the exterior surface of the house. Fill the screw holes with wood filler or calking and touch up paint as required.
